Driftwood Banyan is a whitewashed grey-white with the grain still clearly legible through the wash — paler than Ohia Driftwood and more obviously grained.

Best in. Small dark rooms, basements and interior condos, where the job of the floor is to return light rather than absorb it. It suits pale walls and pale furniture.

Who buys it. Owners of low-light units, and anyone who wants a whitewashed look without paying for a real limed oak.

To lay it. The planks float: they lock to one another and to nothing else, with no glue and no nails anywhere in the system, and radiant heat may be run below. Dent resistance comes from a rigid SPC core. Sound absorption and comfort come from HDPE underlayment already attached to the plank. Abrasion resistance and stain repellency come from the FX2 Surface Protectant. Waterproof, FloorScore and Assure Certified.

Light and cleaning. A whitewashed floor is the most effective of these at bouncing light around a dim room, and the least effective at hiding dark scuffs. FX2 handles the marks; the light is the reason to choose it.
