Metroflor – Kukui – 200 Island Collection – Vinyl Plank Flooring

Kukui is nearly espresso — the deepest, flattest brown here, with very little contrast between boards and a matte rather than glossy read. The kukui is the candlenut, Hawaii's state tree.

Where it belongs. Rooms with a lot of natural light and pale walls, where a near-black floor becomes a deliberate contrast instead of a cave. Also good under bright rugs.

Who picks it. Buyers after one strong decision rather than a floor that blends. It is the least neutral colour in the collection.

Installation. A floating system: boards lock into each other and sit loose on the subfloor, with no adhesive and no nails, and radiant heat is approved below. Dent resistance is a function of the rigid SPC core. Attached HDPE underlayment handles sound absorption and comfort underfoot. Abrasion and stains are the FX2 Surface Protectant's job. Waterproof, FloorScore and Assure Certified.

One practical note. A very dark matte floor reads dramatic in photographs and shows footprints in life. The FX2 Surface Protectant means they clean off easily, but a colour this deep will ask for the mop more often than a mid tone will.
