Description
Royal Koa is the darkest red in the range: a deep reddish-brown with long straight grain and a noticeable sheen, taking its name from the hardwood Hawaii prizes above all others.
The room for it. Formal spaces with light to spare — a living room with big windows, a dining room that already has white trim. Dark floors need light thrown at them, and this one drinks it.
The buyer. Owners who want the koa look without koa money or koa maintenance, and who are furnishing around the floor rather than the other way round.
Getting it in. Royal Koa is a floating floor: the planks join to one another and to nothing else, no adhesive and no fasteners, and radiant heat may run beneath. The core is rigid SPC, which is what keeps furniture legs from leaving marks. The HDPE underlayment is already bonded to the back of every board, so sound is absorbed and the step is softer with no pad to buy. FX2 Surface Protectant does the abrasion and stain work. The whole build is waterproof, FloorScore and Assure Certified.
Living with it. Because the construction is waterproof rather than water-resistant, a dark floor like this can go into a kitchen or a laundry without the usual worry about the edges. Dust shows more on dark boards than on light ones; that is the trade for the colour.
